Trimmings from the Editorial Floor
My editors and I decided that a few chapters of 122 Rules slowed down the pace of the overall story.
Let me be upfront in saying that cutting large swaths from your book is HARD, but sometimes tough choices need to be made.
My characters told me their stories, their voices were heard, but they didn't make the final cut.
However, you can still hear them and they can still tell you who they are.
Here are two chapters that had been axed. One of my all time favorite characters, Wilma, is a tough ass Marine that came home to find out that her husband, Chuck, and Sam's wife, Tracy, had been having an affair. I absolutely love Wilma and it broke my heart to remove her voice from 122. Who knows, maybe Wilma will show up in another book?
Also cut was Tracy's letter to Sam as well as her perspective on him going off to boot camp and being deployed. I left the briefest little snippets of her voice in the book, but here is it's letter in its entirety. It's a bit heart-wrenching and very real, which is why I loved it so much. We get to hear Tracy's anguish and get a glimpse into her suffering. The below link includes the two chapters leading up to Tracy's letter. It's a little spicy at times, so prepare yourself.
Enjoy my friends!

Monica's History Chapter
Monica and Angel had more history in the original draft of 122, but shortly after I'd written it, I realized that it wasn't relevant to the overall story. So as sad as it made me, I cut it before I submitted it to Pandamoon.
But that doesn't mean it would never see the light of day. I knew eventually I'd publish the chapter on its own. Today is the day that a bit of Monica's backstory gets told! Here she is just before she heads off to NYU on her grand adventure. Meet younger Monica and Angel as they receive Monica's scholarship in the mail, as they don cap and gown, and get caught smoking in the girls room.
Enjoy!
